| 320944 | 2005-02-02 22:11:00 | Hi I am having trouble with the auto update in XP Pro Sp2. The auto upadte WAS set to download and then ask to update computer, I don't like that so i changed it to let me know if there are any new updates. Problem it must have started to download the update when i was changed the setting! Now when i do a manual update - they all fail and the shield in the taskbar shows than it (auto update) is tring to downlaod it as well (never gets passed 1%) 1/ I downloaded the updates as files and ran them - No luck. 2/ Where on the computer does it save the temp file for updates - Might be able to delete this started file? 3/ Do you think turning the service off and on would work? Description of the Automatic Updates feature in Windows support.microsoft.com the location of update files are C:Program Files\Windowsupdate and C: Program Files\Windowsupdate\V4 you have to have show hidden files and folders checked in Tools/folder options/view hth |
