| 321298 | 2005-02-03 23:15:00 | Hi everyone! I love this mag, and this website is very helpful! I was hoping that you enlightened people could help me with ADSL query. Im not sure about what company I should join with, who offers the best services and such. I dont need it too fast, but i do play online games, also there will be four of us (flat mates) who will want to use it, so i guess we wont want it too small capped. As there is four of us, do I need a router and a modem? In japan we were given a modem for free, do any companies do such things here? I hope I can get help! Thank you very much, and sorry for my poor English! I am trying! :@@: |

| 321299 | 2005-02-03 23:25:00 | Im looking at the bliink deal from ihug, it supplies a free modem, and waives the connection fee, and looks pretty cheap. Is there anything I should be aware of? thank you! |

Some ISP's bundle a single port router with their offerings, you pay though. So, you will require a router and switch or a 4 port router. |

Especially if your tolls are with them . You will get a free modem, also . IHUG has been around a long time so I wouldn't worry going with them . But please note, I have never been a customer of theirs and this new service is just that - new . Cheers, Lindsay . |

| 321307 | 2005-02-07 05:14:00 | Just get a 4port ADSL Router (Linksys, US Robotics, Dynalink to name a few of the good ones). Then sign up for Jetstream Plus plan (2mbit/192k, 10GB data limit + capped if you go over). That should be enough bandwidth for 4 people playing games. 3 GB is not near enough. Probably be about $20 each a month to keep it going. Forget UBS plans offered around at the moment. They seem to be pretty inferior, offering slower speeds and very bad ping times, like 200ms+ from reading various other people's comments on other forums. |
