321118 2005-02-03 21:24:00 The XP firewall???

We did wonder about that. Were loath to turn any protection off at all. Adaware, Spybot & AVG. No other Firewall in at this time. Intend to have a serious look at the problem later today. Any other suggestions eagerly awaited. Thanks PJ

321119 2005-02-03 21:33:00 Are you using MSN Messenger?
I couldn't for the life of me to get MSN to work with audio & webcam at the same time
Looking around for a solution there are a few million with the same problem
I now use MSN for the webcam & skype for the audio simultaneously
I use it to contact people in Japan, Britain & Australia on a regular basis & it works perfectly

Yes am on MSN messenger, & having typed that, a random thought popped into that large empty space in my skull. This is v6.2, I wonder if it was an earlier version we had??? If this a common problem with MSN v6.2, perhaps v7.0 will fix it??? PJ

321121 2005-02-04 07:24:00 I think 7 is still in beta, and there are also 2 worms going around that'll hit MSN. So, for the time being I would use something else. Speedy Gonzales (78)
321122 2005-02-04 07:29:00 MSN Messenger requires UPnP enabled if you are using XP.

Here is a link to enabling it. It may pay you to have a bit of a Google on the topic:

If you are using Win98, then there will be no audio and video.

Ahem you are using XP :)

321124 2005-02-04 08:27:00 If the other end is running XP it should all work normally. Get rid of XP firewall. I use Sygate Personal Firewall as it doesn't give the problems I had with Zone Alarm & is easy to configure. If the other end is not running XP both ends have to use the audio & video buttons at the top of the screen. XP isn't compatible with anything other than XP as far as MSN Messenger goes. Don't use Windows Messenger either. Phil B (648)
