321076 2005-02-03 08:00:00 Suddenly, for no apparent reason, when I log-on to Paradise with my dial-up modem I get (about every second time) the Blue Screen of Death!
(XP Pro and IE6)

There is generally a discernable click towards the end of the handshake, the screen comes up and with typical Microsoft efficiency lasts about half the time you need to read half a line. I think the important message reads:
DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_THAN_EQUAL

Would appreciate advice.

321077 2005-02-03 08:09:00 Hi Graham

Have a look under Control Panel > Admin tools > Event logs, for any logged errors around that BSOD time?

Have you tried to uninstall the modem driver and then reinstall it?

321078 2005-02-03 08:24:00 hey there,
i think that "click" noise is the modem turning off, my modem does that too when i connect to the net and afterwards when i disconnect i get that click.

does the pc reboot by itself?
have you recently installed any new hardware?

Find some new modem drivers to install.
Run a memory checker too.

That is a fairly common error message that can apply to a lot of things, unfortunately.

Go to System Properties (Windows key+Pause|Break key) > Advanced > Startup and Recovery > Settings and remove the tick from "Automatically restart". That will keep the error message on screen.

Have you made any changes to your computer recently, eg add new programs, hardware, done Windows updates, etc?
