| 321654 | 2005-02-04 21:57:00 | I am running XP Pro and using Mozzilla Thunderbird for email. I have just got Broadband with Xtra. My original dialup ISP was Paradise. I still have my dialup Paradise account going - will do for a couple of months . I have managed to get the Xtra email send and recieve to work fine and i can recieve email from Paradise but i can't send email from my Paradise account within Thunderbird. Any ideas? |

Just a small change should get it going - change your outgoing server settings for your Paradise account to be the same as the outgoing mail server for your Xtra account. In other words, where you've set something like smtp.paradise.net.nz change it to smtp.xtra.co.nz (or whatever the Xtra settings are). Xtra or Paradise are probably blocking the ability to send emails through one account while connected through a different ISP. Mike. |

| 321656 | 2005-02-04 22:42:00 | Standard practice for ISP's is that you can not use their SMTP server unless you are connected to their network. So Paradise won't let you use their SMTP server whilst you are connected to Xtra. This is a good security practice as it prevents machines being used to send spam from machines that can not be dealt with locally. Follow the directions mentioned by Mike and it should be fine. |
