Me and Jen have a right to disagree with each other, and I certainly wouldnt value myself more than her, so I guess we'd toss a coin if we really disagreed ;) we can cross that bridge when we come to it. It was great... I go away at 10:30 saturday morning, come back 24 hours later to find 31 emails in my Inbox, and 16 PM's! Im hungry, time to leave this madhouse and return to Real life :p |

And we needed to know that you had lots of crappy emails and some pms???? the relivence being? So some other wallys are complaining again? Some people should learn to stop moaning and get on with life. So you think this place is a mad house? and real life is better? you havnt lived long enough then to find out about real life. Life is what you make it. Having the right attitude helps, not thinking the world owes you something. Or thinking you or i are better than the next person. My understanding is that people are born the same way and when you die you leave in the same way. and you cant take money or status with you. This place is going down the gurgler. :groan: |

Actually, contrary to many of you who seem to think you own this forum and define its rules of conduct, you all actrually agreed to the rules of conduct when you registered for this forum . Rule No 1 being: 1) Keep it friendly: If you don't have something nice to say, don't say anything . If you feel a thread or post is offensive do not respond in kind . Use the Report this post link to alert a moderator . Personal attacks on members, moderators or staff will not be tolerated and may result in immediate cancelling of forum membership . And that is what this all comes down to, as it always does, and has done now for a couple of years . I still don't think it is that hard to live up to, and I still think some leeway could be used -- as it always has been used -- to tolerate the occasional outburst . Of course, in exercising such leeway we now have opened ourselves up to accusations of "bias" . The thing is - I don't really want to be involved in a forum where draconian rules are enforced with no warning . I personally think there is a core group of you who need to do simply take yourselves off for a month and ignore PressF1 . Do something else, forget about it and perhaps come back when you have had a nice little holiday and then pledge yourselves anew to living up to rule number 1 . And if you can't live up to it - at least 80% of the time - then maybe you need to think about what you're doing here in the first place . Yes, we can start banning left, right and centre and put up with all the resulting stupidity that generates,(and it always does generate stupidity) but ultimately it's up to you all to decide to try and make the forum a decent place . A little more toleration of individual foibles from both sides of the spectrum; a little more dedication to not airing your grievances with someone else in public; a little more appreciation that not everyone fins your sense of humour funny -- some of this would go a long way to making life here a bit better all round . I'm off to hug a tree now . |

No idea what you guys are thinking.If people are giving you a hard time behind the scene so to speak then deal with them,not lash out at us. |

| 321526 | 2005-02-06 23:31:00 | Maybe the heat is getting to every one? :p From what I have seen, most forums have a bad patch and every one has a bit of grief and riot act happen and then peace reins and all is good . Maybe society and peoples lives are so wound up that these things come around faster than thought? And the idea of blasting it onto a no face, no name pc site, is a way for them to let off steam? Not that i think that is good policy either . We (i admit me too) need to learn to look at that other world behind us when we sit in front of the pc, laptop etc . and go out and see the sunshine or rain occasionally . Beat the feet not beat the keys? :badpc: |

| 321527 | 2005-02-08 19:34:00 | Just found this forum. I usually skip the ones at the top of the page. To be quite honest I can't see a hell of a lot wrong with it. Sure there's the occasional outburst of ranting and raving. You don't have to read it if it offends you. One thing I have wondered about is why is everyone so anti Metla and BillyT? They both talk a lot of sense. Whenever they have answered one of my questions it has always been in a friendly and helpful manner. And both of them know what they are talking about. I enjoy reading most of the posts. I don't think I would if they were strictly question and answer. Come to think of it; it's not the inappropiate remarks that cause problems, it's all the replies to them that become offensive. The only thing that has realy upset me was when an anonymous MODERATOR was appointed. That was a bad mistake. And of course it upset a lot of other people too. This resulted in a barrage of replies , all insulting.As they were meant to be. So for what it's worth I'd say leave things as they are. Jack :2cents: |

To debase, as in dignity or social standing Once again, I don't mean offense, Metla, I believe you are a great addition to this forum (providing that you are contributing useful posts,) but it is true, you look down upon some of the forum members as they are insignificant bugs . Beating the feet? Try the 45k walk we have to do every year in the height of summer! (All the oldies (heh, sorry) are probably thinking 'Kids these days, when I was their age, I had to walk 8 miles every morning to get to school . ' :D ) |
