2005-02-07 09:59:00 | We are on jetstart through Orcon, (will be changing to bitstream on the 20th) reading a post about adobe acrobat 7, I downloaded, and it downloaded fast really fast, now I know the jetstart plans bite the dust soon but what is going on is this some weird fluctuation it's been like this since about 2:30 (well thats when I noticed it) did the bandwidth speed test thing and these were the results, Results: Below is the data used to calculate your download speed: * Download time: 0.141 seconds * Size of file: 500 Kilobytes * Estimated line speed: 28936.2 (kilobits/second) * Estimated line speed: 3546.1 (kilobytes/second) now this is a tad higher than normal, have jetstartcustomers been shifted to a faster plan?? or is it just random thanks

That happened to me when I switched to bitstream right after they supposedly disconnected me from jetstart. I had 200kbyte/s downloads for 4 days. Make the most of it while you can. |

2005-02-07 10:36:00 | Unfortunately not nigel. That speed test is just a cached page from your browser. To get the real speed you need to hold either control or shift whilst pressing refresh (depending on your browser) and this will reload the page and give you the correct speed. | 322477 | 2005-02-07 11:01:00 | See thats the thing i did it just now holding down control and it came back my normal jetstart speed but when I did this earlier (2:30pm and yes i used the control key then )it stayed at the high speed, I tested both times using firefox and IE and got the same result. ie first time (2:30pm)really high speed, now crappy old slow speed so god only knows whats going on, although if i don't use the control key the cached page is identical to my earlier results, so i can't figure it out, the downloads seemed markedly faster this morning, but maybe its a glitch in my connection (either the net connection or a grey matter connection) Thanks

2005-02-07 19:19:00 | JetStart still exists??? Are you sure that's what you're one. Check your Telecom bill - it was supposed to be cancelled a couple of months ago. | ninja (1671) | |
2005-02-07 19:37:00 | Fluctuations in speed are not uncommon. Used to happen about once a month when I was on Jetstart, usually for just half a day or so. Also I've heard of several people getting full speed adsl on lower plans for a while after they've joined. Just enjoy it while it lasts.
