| 322456 | 2005-02-07 09:51:00 | i got wlan setup on my notebook right now all the settings are done by xp itself i've seen my friend's notebook and they seem to have some utility that sets the wireless settings and it's not xp 2 notebooks i've seen.. a IBM and an Asus one.. they both use software specific for IBM and Asus my notebook is BenQ... it got internal wifi ..so no external cards... the notebook didn't come with any 3rd party utility to help you do setup is there a software out there that can do this? both the IBM and Asus programs seem to give more detail and more settings... |

I set up an ASUS a while ago and tried setting the internal wifi adaptor with the ASUS utility but XP would not recognise its settings after a re-boot. So I let XP do it and all came right. (I set a new SSID and enabled WEP). Just my 2c worth. Cheers, Lindsay. |

I had my desktop using the XP wireless uitility with both XP SP1 and SP2 and wouldn't work with the cards manufactures utility. My laptop on the other hand would only work with the manufactures wireless utility with XP SP1 but with SP2 had to use the XP wireless option. Start playing and you could be in for trouble. | berryb (99) | ||
