322224 2005-02-07 01:59:00 Greetings,

Ive got a few LAN Shares on my work WinXP PC, and I want to find out who is accessing them at any given time.

How would I go about doing this?

Cheers

322225 2005-02-07 02:17:00 In Linux, you could look at the log files. ;)

Does XP have log files?

322226 2005-02-07 02:35:00 Yeah, I Linux.... sadly they wont let me install Gentoo no my work PC.

It'd rock on it too... 3.2Ghz P4 w/1024MB Ram..... I could have it up and running in about 8 hours! Why oh why.....

322227 2005-02-07 02:40:00 You could run Ethereal; that would show the packets going back and forth. (I suspect Windows would have a logging option which would need to be turned on. Of course that would mean logging in as Administrator to see the logs ; though that is not just a MS thing --- the /var/log files are not readable by "lusers" ;)) Graham L (2)
322228 2005-02-07 02:41:00 Administrative Tools -> COmputer Management -> Shares -> Open Shares ;) wintertide (1306)

322231 2005-02-07 04:08:00 wow, 8 hours to do a install of a os?? why does it take so long?That is compiling the OS from source with Gentoo. You don't normally use pre-compiled binaries unlike other distro's, hence the faster installation with them. :) Jen (38)
322232 2005-02-07 04:17:00 netstat -a ? Growly (6)
322233 2005-02-07 04:39:00 Best thing about that open shares/files thing is you can disconnect them from the files too... real fun when someone's in a file they aren't meant to be in! ;) wintertide (1306)
