2005-02-06 22:37:00 | ;) When I brought my new computer (compaq presario windows xp) it had Nortons Antivirus for 6 months when that ran out I brought Nortons antivirus 2003 upgrade from nortons, it came with disc and manual and I done the same this year 2004 . What I want to know is can I sell the 2003 version, is it any good to any one else since it is an upgrade. thanks for any help. ;) | luckysmum (1528) | |

At a guess, as an upgrade to an OEM version/promotion specific to the PC, you'll have to throw the PC into the deal as the qualifying product for the upgrade.. Check the end user license agreement (EULA) which should be contained in a text file in the programme foler(s) somewhere. |

2005-02-06 23:20:00 | Agree with Murray. When you "upgrade", the resulting licence includes the product(s) that you upgraded. You must retain ownership of them all. Otherwise you need to buy a full version, not an upgrade. If the original software was a bundled "OEM" version (which it sounds like) then Murray is also correct, it has to be accompanied by the hardware it was purchased from in most cases. Of course that is the legal standpoint. What happens in practice is not discussed....

2005-02-07 20:56:00 | If the Norton's 2004 upgrade you have is capable of being installed on the original OEM one that your computer came with, I don't see why you can't sell the 2003 upgrade. | Jeremy (1197) | |
2005-02-07 21:42:00 | If the Norton's 2004 upgrade you have is capable of being installed on the original OEM one that your computer came with, I don't see why you can't sell the 2003 upgrade. Because as explained: The 2004 upgrade has a legal dependence on the licence of the original 2003 version. The 2003 version was OEM and can only be sold with the PC, legally.
