| 321975 | 2005-02-06 03:59:00 | Hi all I recently set up a new PC for my wife and have a problem that I hope you can resolve. Her old PC ran WIN 98 with no logon The new XPPro PC, I set up with a user FRED with a password, with full Admin rights.. There is also a Guest acct. My good lady wants to be able to just turn on her PC and have it boot straight to the desktop having full Admin priviledges, but without having to log on. Yes I know there are security issues but that is what she would like. How then do I delete the FRED acct under which all her apps were loaded and still retain full functionality. I have browsed through the help files, but have been unable to locate the information that I require. I hope someone has already been down this track and can pass on the knowledge. Cheers HH |

If there is a password set on the FRED account then it'll still stop on the logon screen, but removing the password should allow you to boot straight to the desktop on the FRED account. Does this make sense? Mike. |

Then Click Start -> Control Panel, then Click Administrative Tools. Computer Management. Expand (Click the +) Local Users and Groups, click Users. There you will see the name of the account you created, as well as administrator, you may also see an account for ASP.Net, you can safely delete the ASP.net account and the account that you created. Don't delete the Administrator account, this account has "All Rights" even "Special Rights". Reboot PC, this will automatically login to the admin account. |
