322284 2005-06-07 08:18:00 There is another way...

If you have the CD and maybe the packaging or booklet and can prove so ( I took a digital photo) Miscrosoft can generate a new key for you in the event that you can't locate the original sticker or certificate.

I used this sevice not so long back for a copy of office 2k, rung them, took a pic and emailed it to them of said goods and a couple of days later a new key was emailed to me.

:2cents:

of course there other faster ways Muuhhhhhha Ha :p

322285 2005-06-08 02:34:00 I just noticed that too Billy.... Ah well, not much we can do about it, so far this all seems pretty legit.

Personally, I like Black Jellybeans the best :)

The Key can be changed, Im not sure if Magic jellybean does it... But Microsoft has a full how-to on changing it at their website

322286 2005-06-08 04:11:00 That would be the work of those trusty search engine bots/spiders bringing us visitor's from every corner of the www :p

If you search with google for Windows XP serial number, we are hit number 14. Us discussing Jellybeans is probably not what they were after
Moving up everyday. Now no 9. With speech marks around it, we're only no.3. /me bets that hackers are visiting this site every few minutes thinking they'll get a free key!

322287 2005-06-08 04:18:00 TY Jen . . . that's what got me here!

Aren't ya glad?

. . . makes me remember a line from a Beatles movie (Hard Day's Night) when Ringo is asked by some stuffed shirts if he is a MOD or a ROCKER . He says "A lil of both, I think . Yes, I'm a "MOCKER"

well . . it's kinda funny if you imagine a Liverpool accent anyway . . . . . .

(I hope I haven't said anything bad, after all I don't speak NewZealandeese)

322288 2005-06-08 05:16:00 Just a minor point:

It's all very well to have the code on a file on the computer . You can use the file to print a few copies of the number to keep in safe places .

But think about when you will need the code? Will you be able to read a file on the disk when you need the code number . ?

Haha, exactly what I was thinking about . . . . somewhat unfortunate that not everyone in the world carries the logic like you . :(

322290 2005-06-08 09:52:00 you can change your windows xp key, i think magic jellybean does it......

For those of us that made their own computer and have bought a licence for MSDos 3.3, MSDos 6.22, Win 3.11, Win95, Win98SE and now using WinXP Pro I am inclined to think that I have paid enough to Bill Gates.

My original disks are still here.

I still have my original (one) floppy disk containing MS Flight Sim Version 1. Not that I use it any more. Just historic value maybe.

MSDos 3.3 was on one 360Kb floppy. MSDos 6.22 on 3 1.44 Meg floppies. Win 3.11 on 8 1.44 Meg floppies with the printer drivers. Win95 on 25 or so floppies. Win98 and Win98SE came on CDs as does WinXP.

Change your WinXP key if you wish.

This sounds a little like piracy to me.

You have a valid point. Dead hard drive then no Windows and can't read the hard drive.

322292 2005-06-08 09:59:00 Hi Folks. May be a bit slow today... but why would you want to change the licence key on a product that you own? Scouse (83)
322293 2005-06-08 10:37:00 That's a good question, but read the Microsoft Website, as they give some good examples on the same page that tells you how to change the WinXP Home Key. Chilling_Silence (9)
