322780 2005-02-08 21:50:00 I've partitioned my hard drive into 3..One for winxp pro, one for me, and one for flatmate...

I want to password protect the 2 partitions, so he cant access mine and I cant access his...as with the whole sharing on xp, it doesnt work when you partition hard drives....so yeah...

Can anyone give me ideas or hellp :)

Thanks

322781 2005-02-08 21:53:00 If you formated with NTFS you can just set user passwords and turn of sharing Rob99 (151)
322782 2005-02-09 02:07:00 as silly i mite be...i dont know what you mean...
the partition is D drive...and its sharing is off, but u can still see it in the other user who logs on this computer....so how do i prevent that happening...
as i want me to be able to access D partition but he doesnt, and for him access E partition but i dont....how do we password protect the partitions for our privacy?

the C one is where programs etc etc installed...

and yup we're formatted under NTFS

322783 2005-02-09 02:52:00 Is this (www.gold-software.com) the sort of program you're after?
Have a look through these (www.google.co.uk) results to see if there is anything more suitable:)

322785 2005-02-09 03:36:00 Try http://truecrypt.sf.net

Otherwise there is:
File Protector 2.05b SE - www.mikkotech.com
Or theres:
Folder Guard - www.winability.com

I would suggest Truecrypt as being the #1 ideal solution! Use it unless you have a good reason not to.
Folder Guard would be my second choice

F-Prot is alright, but not as good

Truecrypt is 100% free might I add :)

322787 2005-02-10 00:53:00 Thanks Chris
You've got two options with Truecrypt:
Format an Entire partition
Add a file onto a current partition and encrypt it (Which then becomes a 3rd drive)
