| 322764 | 2005-02-08 22:45:00 | It was down for some time yesterday afternoon, was up during the evening, and has been down again since 8am this morning when I got to work. The status page keeps barfing errors about 50% of the time I hit it so assume it's quasi significant: messenger.xtramsn.co.nz |

| 322767 | 2005-02-09 01:00:00 | Trend Micro is warning of a new variant of the Bropia worm that uses MSN Messenger to spread. The Bropia.F worm is packaged with a second, more damaging worm that tries to exploit poorly patched computers, the antivirus company said on Thursday. The latest variant of the Bropia worm was discovered on Wednesday evening, Trend Micro said. It infects systems belonging to users of MSN Messenger by sending itself as a picture of a roast chicken with tan lines to all available or online contacts. It also releases a second more dangerous worm, called Agabot.ajc, on the infected computer. news.com.com Microsoft on Tuesday confirmed that a "significant" number of its MSN Messenger users have been experiencing intermittent outages for about a day. The company remained vague on the nature of the outage, blaming it on an "isolated issue that we've located in the data center," according to a company spokeswoman. She would not elaborate on when service would be restored. The spokeswoman also said the outage is affecting consumers across many countries around the world, but the number of people affected remains undisclosed. The latest outage comes days after security monitors discovered the Bropia worm was using MSN Messenger to spread. The Microsoft spokeswoman denied the outage was caused by the worm. news.com.com |

| 322770 | 2005-02-09 02:32:00 | Why don't you guys try AIM, ICQ, or Y! If MSN does not work, you have a back up. I use all these messengers, and there is always at least one connected. Using a program like gaim or trillian helps keep all your applications into one window/application. |
