| 322680 | 2005-02-08 07:17:00 | I have a USB/Firewire combo card which has suddenly stopped working fully. I have uninstalled and reinstalled it, downlloaded the latest drivers to no avail. It is an STlabs card. Its got 3 external usb ports and 2 external firewire ports and one of each internal which I have connected to a front mounted box. the USB ports work for an external hard drive but wont recognise the same external drive in the Firewire slot nor my digital video camera. The computer seems to recognise the firewire part of the card as when I remove it from the hardware it finds and installs the drivers for it. I'm using w2k with all the updates ,SPs etc loaded. Where to from here? Thanks Alastair |

| 322682 | 2005-02-13 04:21:00 | Whipped it out and into my XP box. Picked up first time no issues. Put old Firewire card into W2K box and deleted & reinstalled drivers and it worked Ok. So I have a card that half works in one machine and works fully in the other and one card that works in both. I now have the cards both working but in the machines I don't want them in. Does anyone have any insight to why firewire on the combo card may not work in the W2K machine where it does on the XP? Is there a simpler fix than just getting a USB card and squeezing it into the other box? Thnx Alastair |
