322629 2005-02-08 01:23:00 My new laptop has 2 partitions on a single drive, pre-sized from the manufacturer. I've had a search through the relevant posts on the forum, and can't find definitive answers to this particular situation:

Drive C: 32G, NTFS, operating system & program files
Drive D: 22G, NTFS, documents & data

There is also a FAT32 recovery partition of about 2G that can just stay as it is.

For various reasons I'd like to shrink the C: partition to about 10G, and bump the D: up to about 44G. I've already installed programs on C: and have data on D:

Can I alter the sizes as required without affecting data, and can I do it without spending any more dosh?

I do have TrueImage 8, so I guess I could image both partitions separately to another PC, reformat/resize, then restore images, BUT:

Can I restore an image of a 32G partition (with less than 5G used space) to a 10G logical drive??
Will my recovery partition be affected??

Some definitive answers to these questions would be very much appreciated, thanks.

I've never used Truemagic, so dont know what it can / cant do.

110MB but it comes with QtParted which is a GUI Non-Destructive Partition manager which will allow you to do this :)

Fully free too!
