| 322788 | 2005-02-08 21:55:00 | I reformatted pc the other day so it can be clean installed/partitioned... then finally got connected yesterday, then downloaded adaware, did a scan...1289 items deleted in 1 scan......after being online 10-20 mins... and now we're getting pop ups of cash loans, and sometimes theres a dialer added to our list and tried to be rung, but when we get disconnected we yank the plug out and do adaware then reconnect.... antivirus shows nothing... adaware works but we only have been to sites like downloads.com, nzherald.co.nz, cnn.com, zonealarm.com, xtramail.co.nz.. so where is this popups coming from? and how can i stop it!! Got adaware, with latest definations, and same for nortons antivirus....what else do i need??? Thanks in advance for ur help |

| 322792 | 2005-02-09 01:14:00 | As an aside I believe AdAware (like SpyBot) picks up Cookies from advertising networks as threats. Technically they can compromise privacy but are unlikely to be a major problem - this can cause scary amounts of SpyWare to "appear" to be there. Oh yeah, and MS AntiSpyware only if you're runnin W2K/XP. Others aren't supported. |
