323021 2005-02-09 10:06:00 i read somewhere recently (PC World?) about a download that when installed will advise when an email arriving in my inbox has the unwelcome "DidTheyReadIt" web-bug attached. Can someone pse tell me where to find the counter measure to this intrusion. timmy5953 (6846)
323022 2005-02-09 10:23:00 I imagine it is when someone send you mail with HTML that has an image link back to a web server.

Telling your email client not to display HTML is probably a good start (perosnally I just trash such messages without reading them).

heres a link (email.about.com)

- not a pc world one though.

The program is called NoSpyMail and can be found at www.belshe.com/nospymail

This program is only for MS Outlook.
If using Outlook Express - Go to OE tools, options, read. Turn ON the option to "read all messages in plain text"

323026 2005-02-09 21:01:00 ThunderBird won't download remote images. ninja (1671)
323027 2005-02-09 21:15:00 Why not. Safari (3993)
323028 2005-02-09 21:35:00 It's a security feature, it won't download remote images without you allowing it. That is how most of those e-mail trackers work, a tiny link to a 1pixel white .gif which is tagged to log when someone hits it. ninja (1671)
323029 2005-02-09 22:03:00 But you would still need to select that option like any other mail program would you not or is it on by default. Safari (3993)
323030 2005-02-10 07:38:00 By default. ninja (1671)
