I have just bought a new computer using XP home. Previously I have been using Micros**t Office 2000 on the old machine. This is from an upgrade disk designed to overwrite Micros**t Works. My original Works disk is the W 95 version. When I tried to install it on the XP machine it would not install. Does this mean I cannot use Office 2000 on my XP machine without sending them even yet more money again??? Any ideas very welcome..... :@@: |

Have you tried installing from the Office disk and inserting the Work disk when Office asks to check elegibility? |

Hi slofox. Not sure of the relationship between Works and XP. When I started to upgrade from 98 SE to XP, the system advised that I would lose all record of the existing Works 4.5. On advice from a friend, I backed up all the 4.5 and its data, installed the upgrade to XP and then reinstalled 4.5. It works without problem on XP. Appreciate that this does not solve your problem, but adds to the mysteries of MS. |

Thanks to all who have replied. Microsoft say Works 4.0 will NOT work in XP but that I can install Office from the upgrade disc by reinserting the upgrade disk when asked for.........they told me this after I spoke to the manager, not the technician, and suggested that I would use OpenOffice instead...... |
