| 324293 | 2005-02-12 02:00:00 | I have just signed up with Telecom for the above, though not yet installed (next week or later) I have been alotted 1 G to use for downloading. I have no idea how much that is. I asked if I downloaded 8 movie trailers a week would that soon be enough to fill that up? They told me that was ok. I would be under the 1G, also that when I did exceed the quota the net would slow down and I would not have to pay extra for downloading only if I went to the next package, which I can not afford. Is this too good to be true as the saying goes Regards |

How big are your movie trailers? 8 a week at say 50 megs each is 400 megabytes a week, times 4 = 1600 megabytes. This is over your allowance. If the trailers were 20 megs each then you may be ok .... BUT; You have to also remember that everything you do on the net is transferring and/or receiving data. So, opening this page to read the response to your post has used data (downloaded and sent information) to and from your computer. Checking, sending and receiving emails is the same. The 1 gig cap also counts data SENT from your computer, which needs to be taken into consideration. The only real way to establish what you will use is to try it. |

BUT; This is not correct. Telecom count ALL data transferred against your limit. This includes all the TCP/IP/UDP header information which soon adds up to many MB's and it counts both ways as well. If you get a packet of data then your PC sends back a packet saying it got it and this counts as well. I blew 10GB in 5 days just getting 6 41 minute avi's. I got to 122% of 10GB before I got throttled back and now have 10 days at 64/64 before I get my 2G/192 back. |

| 324297 | 2005-02-12 04:04:00 | last month on the starter plan (1gb/256k) we went through 10gb without being throttled. this month on the 10gb/2mbit unlimited plan we are 20gb through, and still aren't throttled. we are truely blessed. watching movie trailers leisurely on the 1gb plan, things should be ok. |

Long as I don't get punished for going over and have a heavy bill at the end of the month. I was going to get a 2mb 10gb plan (as that seems to be best, want unlimited) but was under the impression 10gb was a download cap, if it's all data then i'm going to use it in a coupla days, oh dear :( |
