2005-02-10 08:26:00 | I have a few Ubisoft games, and most of them (but not all) give a peculiar error while installing, although overall the install works fine. Disk 1 always installs fine. Part way through one of the other disks I get an error that goes something along the lines of "volume has changed, please replace to continue" and "Continue", "Ignore", "Cancel" buttons. Clicking on any of these three buttons causes problems to the install, but if I ignore all these buttons and the error, the install continues as normal. When the install finishes I return disk 1 to the drive and click "Continue" and the message disappears and I have no other issues. The installed game runs fine. My question is why does this happen? Have I got some setting set somewhere in Windows that checks what CD is in the drive or something? Or is the game's installer not releasing the disk properly when it asks me to change disks? Its not a major, just a little intriguing. Thanks, Midavalo.

What games are you having ploblems with?, are they originals or backups?, what programs do you have running?, are you have Daemon Tools, AndDVD, CloneCD, Alcohol 120% or anything like that installed? |

2005-02-11 04:24:00 | I could find nothing that really matched on Ubisofts support site - faq section on installs. It sounds like some third party tool is indexing data on inserted CDs or something (i,e, nothing to do with Ubisoft games). Antivirus prog? | gibler (49) | |
2005-02-11 04:36:00 | It happens with Splinter Cell, Splinter Cell Pandora Tomorrow, and Far Cry for sure... cant' remember the others. Don't think it has happened with any of the Myst series games though. All original disks. I do have Daemon Tools installed at the moment, but I'm not sure if that's been installed every time I've tried to install these games. Nothing else like that installed. M.

2005-02-11 04:37:00 | Also its only ever happened with Ubisoft games, and only after I've switched from Disk 1 - Windows (rather than the installer) seems to be still expecting to have Disk 1 in the drive... M.

2005-02-11 04:42:00 | Yea I had that problem with the installer for Prince of persia - sands of time; I think I just took out the disk, put the other one in, clicked ok, took it out, put the first one in and it worked.. Then it told me to uninstall alcohol so I told it to get stuffed and downloaded a no CD hack (sad when you have to use a cracked version, even with the original cd's)
