My apologies if I am mistaken.

Both of those are seriously overpriced, with the Mac in hardware terms being worth a good $1200 less then its retail price .

As for the other, buy elsewhere, You will get a better comp and save hundreds . A good place to start specwise is the deal put together for Misty .

Whats your location?

Of course you can compare them, they are used for the same tasks,Just ignore the power of the cpu and compare how well they do their intended job,and how much value for money your getting.

Yes, an apple and packard bell. Which is the better of the two?

Thanks for the quick response :D My closest 'city' is Whangarei, up North . RTB is an issue for me with purchasing from Auckland . There is alot of conflicting information here at the forums . It can be easy enough to find the info you want, but then get tangled up in sound card, video card and all the bits and bobs . . . .

Support, reliability - and power in a pc, all very important stuff . Some swear by Apple, some loathe Dell!!! and so on and so on .

Whilst putting together a computer package sounds great, it seems abit more complicated . I've looked at PB Technologies, Quay, QMB and Advanced Computers . I was inclined to go Noel Leemings or similar as they are less likely to fold like some computer businesses have done in the past, leaving their customers pretty much abandoned with warranties that are worthless .

I've actually tackled this issue before, and ended up giving up because it seemed too hard . I now need to get organised for study purposes, ensuring I can get something that I can eventually upgrade, instead of buying a whole new system later .

I'll keep chugging away though, still happy to hear useful comments though :D

which is better?

A mac user will tell you a mac is better.

A PC user will tell you a PC is better.

As far as i can see the only reason to use a mac is for its software, which is all down to personal preference, A Mac certainly isn't the gods gift that usrs claim. They are a bit like a cult.....

Imo they have nothing to warrent the extra expence, apart from the fact you get less power for your money...oh wait, thats a negative.

As far as PC's go, The Packard Bell you listed is overpriced by a fair whack.
