324167 2005-02-25 05:54:00 Looks like everyone else, except me, in favour. Maybe I'm just biased :(

Anyway, I just can't resist this one:
You say you are paying $99 EXTRA on to get an upgrade for wireless keyboard and mouse. Does it really cost that much!? :o Harvey Normal have a retail set of wireless Microsoft Multimedia and Optical Mouse all for $99 only! You really can't get much better than Microsoft....

324168 2005-02-25 06:10:00 Yeah ya can, How about a Non-Microsoft mouse!

I'd rather one of these babies any day:
qmb.co.nz

Or if you have no budget:
qmb.co.nz

324169 2005-02-25 06:18:00 I have an mx510, Makes using a MS mouse like grabing a dead squid while blindfolded. It ain't wireless, but then I'm not likely to want to take it for a tour of the house.

And I have an A4 wireless mouse for my laptop, Has good heft and shape, I would take that over an MS mouse as well.

Keyboards i have no preference,Just use a $12 model, all those extra keys, fluff, gimmics and the required drivers of fancy keyboards are rubbish....well to me anyhow.

324170 2005-02-25 06:38:00 not to mention the hassle of wireless devices chewing up batteries..... drcspy (146)
324171 2005-02-26 22:01:00 WHAT?.............You haven't bought it yet?

Yes, I have now Metla. Took delivery yesterday. All well so far - but am going back to learn how to configure the ethernet router to the new machine.

Thanks eveybody for their invaluable input and suggestions. I have ended up with a much better system than otherwise !!

324172 2005-02-26 22:47:00 good job Misty - except for one thing - for a modest amount more (or instead of the wireless devices) you could have got a second hard-drive. The flexibility and easy backup advantages make it really worthwhile.

Perhaps consider getting an identical Seagate unit some time in the future as an easy upgrade option.

But anyway - a very nice system for a very reasonable price.

324173 2005-03-14 08:05:00 Thanks again everyone
The new system really seems great. Everything is so responsive. Did make a couple of last minute changes.

(1) On the Saturday they told me that they did not have any
ATI Radeon 9550 256MB Graphic card
in stock like they had said
instead would I wait until Monday or take a
Ge-cube 9600 (Pro) 256mb TV out DVI
instead for $45 extra
and going on reassurances that it was better decided not to wait the extra couple of days. That weekend was going to be better to setup the system.

Now if that was not too good a choice I would rather hear it than you guys going soft on me (because decision already made etc.)

(2) Second change was - on the day - compared CRT with LCD and asked questions - it was not the hard sell - it was purely me ( and even Mrs Misty)
decided to buy instead
CMV LCD CT-720Ds 17" SXGA DVI

(3) On top of all this Karen from Advanced Computers gave us (without prior warning) and for free a little extra
Genius Keyboard Multimedia
and
Genius Mouse Optical PS2 White
instead of the basic keyboard and mouse we had not changed.
Not a big deal, I would think but every little counts (as the old lady said as she peed in the sea)

What do you reckon overall ?

324176 2005-03-14 08:47:00 although i realise you want support, i bought my pc, an athlon 64 3000+, gigabyte k8ns motherboard, 120gb ata133 hdd, radeon 9600xt 128mb graphics card, dvd writer, flash as case with 450w psu, and a 17"lcd monitor for $1350, as i was on a strict budget, it was the best i could buy

Keen to know where you got this from?

Thanks :)
