324158 2005-02-22 07:02:00 Well, I am pleased to report that Advanced Computers have come to the party and offered to make two changes, with no increase in cost. Now would have the motherboard recommended by Metla and the video card recommended by both Metla and Alan C.

This would make the system as follows -

AMD Athlon XP3200 + Processor 64bit
Motherboard - Asus K8N nforce3
512MB DDR RAM PC 3200
Seagate Barracuda 80GB 7200RPM Harddisk Drive
1.44MB 3.5” Floppy Disk
Samsung dual layer 16 x DVD RW
ATI Radeon 9550 256MB Graphic card (instead of Geforce FX5700LE AGP8X 256MB, DVI, TV-Out)
Integrated Sound
56k INTERNAL v.92 Modem
17” SVGA Colour CRT
Keyboard, Scroll Mouse (both wireless) & Pad, Speakers
24 months Return-to-Base from invoiced date
M/S Windows Home Edition

for a price of $1730 (GST included)

I have done some price comparisons and there is a clear advantage (going on price) by having the motherboard above. The video card, I searched and searched, but could not find the Geforce one to do a comparison - I presume LE stands for "Lite Edition" - but only found a 128MB one). Never mind - if Metla and Alan C say it is good - then it is certainly good enough for me !!

NB - Included in the cost is $99 extra for wireless keyboard and mouse.

Does the above system look balanced now please ?

Misty :D

324163 2005-02-24 05:25:00 If you live in Auckland visit the Panmure computer market held each Saturday morning from 9am to noon. They can build you a system for a very resonable price augustus (6717)
324164 2005-02-24 06:57:00 Hello Misty,

Yes, that system specified looks more than adequate for your stated needs.

The one thing left to check, as Prescott as already mentioned is the brand of wireless keyboard & Mouse.

This is very important as there is nothing worse than finding your mouse does not work because your batteries have gone flat and you have no spares.

Most good brands now come bundled with rechargeables for the mouse at least and for the $100.00 extra you are paying you should get one with that facility with no problem.
