323859 2005-02-11 22:29:00 I'm having issues with my modem - its not just the settings for the port forward that I get the message "Invalid command" - I get it if I change almost any setting... it seems the only settings I can change are on the first page - user name, isp details, etc.

Hmmm...

323860 2005-02-12 00:52:00 Well, now that I seem to have overcome my earlier issues with port-forwarding...

Where to from here? I turned on the port-forwarding, but when I try to connect to my external internet IP I get a password box asking to connect to my modem - it doesn't seem to be forwarding the port, is that right?

This was way easier when I was using a 56k modem :D

323861 2005-02-12 04:40:00 Turn off external access to it.

ALWAYS get somebody else to check your settings, some routers will not take internal connections to the external address. In otherwords I type in www.dimension.net.nz and I'll get errors. Anybody else types it in and its fine.

This is when you change your HOSTS file :D

323862 2005-02-12 04:43:00 Turn off external access to it.How? There is an option for "Remote Administration", but that's already disabled. Is that what you were meaning?

323863 2005-02-12 04:49:00 Yes.

If it has, thats fine - Ask somebody else to try it from another computer (Outside your own personal LAN).

Chill.
