323763 2005-02-11 00:59:00 hi, recently my speakers have been acting up, they r 5.1 Cambridge sound works and r using 3d audio driver for windows, there r 3 ports going into my sound card 5 ports in total the other 2 r for a mic and something else the problem is 3 of my speakers have stopped working the ones with the yellow and green coloured wires, while the speakers using the black wires wont work when its plugged into its proper slot but it works while plugged into the green wire slot I haven’t tried it on the yellow wired slot, I reinstalled the drivers when I attempted to use the auto updater it says it couldn’t find anything but it didn’t help any.

Also since about last week my sound volume turns itself down automatically so that it’s silent I don’t know what causes it I don’t think I have any virus's r spy ware ive run scans to check though didn’t find anything. do you think it could be a problem with my sound card r perhaps my wires, I don’t know what make my soundcard is, if anyone knows were I could get new drivers or has any idea what’s causing plz let me know :help: i should also mention that when i plug my headphones into the appropiate slot (the green one) they work

323764 2005-02-11 03:07:00 Well it sounds like the drivers are defaulting to "normal" volume and two channel sound and that's why you only get sound through the green port (front channels)...

You will need to find out what your soundcard is though - right click on volume control in the taskbar and click "adjust audio properties" and under the audio tab have a look what your playback/recording device is...

323766 2005-02-13 00:05:00 Check all your connections to the speakers and the soundcard and make sure the Balance/Fader settings on the external amplifier for the speakers is set correctly...

Use Creative Surround Mixer and make sure the speaker mode is set to 5.1 and then press the test button - also make sure the balance is set correctly with the Bal/Fade button - also check that the option "Synchronize with Control Panel" is ticked.

If that all fails make sure your speaker setup under windows is correct in Control Panel.
