324636 2005-02-13 08:45:00 I have just run a system cleanup app through my machine (running XP) and find that my desktop online banking shortcuts no longer works and same with internet addresses in emails, which no longer connect straight to the web page when clicked on, but instead I now have to cut from my email and paste after opening IE. How do I fix the problem?

i think it is a worry that you received ur bank URL address from your email... as it could be a risk there....

324639 2005-02-13 09:04:00 . Quit all programs that are running .
2 . Click Start, and then click Run .
3 . Type regsvr32 urlmon . dll, and then click OK .
4 . When you receive the "DllRegisterServer in urlmon . dll succeeded" message, click OK .

If this does not resolve the problem, repeat steps 2 through 4 for each of the following files (in step 3, replace Urlmon . dll with each of the file names below):
• Shdocvw . dll
• Msjava . dll
• Actxprxy . dll
• Oleaut32 . dll
• Mshtml . dll
• Browseui . dll
• Shell32 . dll (Windows XP and Windows 2000 only)

324640 2005-02-13 09:23:00 Have a read of this Microsoft knowledge Base article and see if it helps: - You cannot open a new Internet Explorer window or nothing occurs after you click a link (support.microsoft.com) :) Jen (38)
324641 2005-02-13 09:25:00 It may be convenient to have shortcuts to banking websites but I have read that it is not a good idea to use them as viruses can hijack the shortcuts to point to a phished site to steal your banking details and passwords. It is recommended that people always type in the address to banking websites. FoxyMX (5)
