When 1st got pc, didnt have problem until after few days... keep restarting...then i reformat myself...then same problem... i googled and found out might be pc overheating ...
i open up the case... touch the Graphic card ...and it's burning hot..haha..
HDD is ok .. but motherboard im not sure..
It only happen when i play games like NFSU2 ...when it uses much more of the GraphicCard( i suspect)

any idea to my problems ??

* i tried putting table fan blowing (highest speed) ...still restart when play games only .(no warning or error..just straight black screen restart) ( for playing continuosly for around 20 mins ? not sure :S )

pc specs is as below

2.4ghz p4 512 DDR 400 Ram
Asus P4P800S-X
GeForce4 MX440 with agp8x ( normal ones) directx 9.0c

324600 2005-02-13 06:43:00 assumeing youy have win XP have you turned off the auto restart? that way you should get an error message instead of it restarting.

if it still restarts with table top fan then i doubt its a heat problem.

324601 2005-02-13 06:55:00 Firstly you really need to find out if it is a temp problem by

1) Installing motherboard monitor 5 (mbm5) or something like ASUS probe - anything that can record the temperature, so you actually know what it is.

2) check for newer drivers (video, sound motherboard).

3) check for faulty ram with something like memtest86

4) your power supply may not be up to the task .. try another if you can

.. and make sure not other strange programs/processes are running before launching the game. Also look for game patches (actually that should be first)...

i've check with memtest . no error found . Power supply is 400W . . . guess that is enough ? I got newest drivers for my video, onboard sound motherboard . . .

I've check with Asus probe and got this result .
CPU temperature is 50C ( not playing game )
MB temperature is 32C

Ah but not all power supplies are created equal (or maybe you just have one with some sort of fault that develops under load) .

Ah but what is the temperature just before the crash?
50C if completely idle seem a tad high . . . my 3 GHz P4 is 40 at the moment .
