2005-02-12 22:38:00 | Hi Guys I have recently installed Thunderbird email client. Im having trouble configuring it so that it will not download email already marked as Spam by my ISP. Outlook Express allows you to set it so that it will not download email with specified criteria and will automatically delete it from the server. Thunderbird lets you set it so that it deletes the message from the server but it downloads it first. It doesnt seem to have the option of; deleting from the server and not downloading as Outlook Express does. Please tell me Im wrong

Create junk folder for each of your email accounts and use the training to send the spam there, review and delete the unwanted ones every now and again depending on your usage and amount of spam received. BTW, check your webmail settings if you want to delete directly without downloading. |

2005-02-13 00:06:00 | Xtra spam options You can choose to have it deleted before it arrives, or send it to a separate folder in your mailbox, or mark it up as "[SPAM]" before it gets sent to your inbox.

2005-02-13 02:55:00 | You don't need to configure Thunderbird to do this, your ISP will filter spam to a spam folder so you don't have to download it. You just have to set the spam options on your ISP account. Is there something here I don't understand or are you are not telling us everything.

2005-02-13 04:43:00 | It is not a matter of hiding information my question is simply how do you configure Thunderbird so that it does not download email marked as Spam. It can be done in Outlook Express and I assumed (maybe foolishly) that the much-touted Thunderbird would also be able to do this also. | Oldfart (7283) | |
