324397 2005-02-12 07:04:00 carelessly overheated my old athlon cpu the other day so I gotta new mobo, (ECS) and a sempron 2200 cpu......(yeh I know but this is only for my working pc that I take to jobs for slaving other folks harddrives etc to.....) anyway ......was wondering cause it seems the semperon 2200 supposedly runs at 1500Mhz or thereabouts on the 166Mhz bus......however the old athlon I had I am sure ran at the same approx 1500Mhz ..........what gives here ?......is the semperon just more efficient so it's gotta higher number (2200 compared to 1800) or what ?........I'd appreciate any info but dont really want links leading to reams of info jsut a short treastise if you can will do thanks ......... drcspy (146)
324398 2005-02-12 07:13:00 The higher number relates to marketing,the sempron rating system is suposed to compare against the celeron range of cpu's... Metla (12)
324399 2005-02-12 07:16:00 If you take 300 off the rating (IE 3100 - 300 = 2800), put on any 64bit capabilities (Sempron 3100 only) and double the cache, you get the processor that it replaces Edward (31)
