| 324349 | 2005-02-16 14:40:00 | I had a look at buddy sometime ago, nice piece of craft. Buddy tags onto IE....when IE starts..so does buddy. Upgrading IE will not remove buddy. There are a few versions of buddy about. Dont bother with symantec, dead loss For the majority of users, once buddy takes hold, you have it 4ever. DONT USE INTERNET EXPLORER. use another browser, firefox or whatever they are free and upto now are bulletproof to buddy and its "mates" DONT USE OUTLOOK EXPRESS,use Thunderbird or other alternative. Theres a nice spread of MBR/partition table virii using OULOOK, real nasties.... |

| 324350 | 2005-02-16 19:32:00 | Can you uninstall IE from Add/Remove programs and then re-install from disk, if you have those disks. I think with MS's integration of programs with the OS this might be difficult, There's been lots of talk here already about removing IE. Generally not recommended or not even possible. Or IE repair, depending how closely this false buddy is stuck into it. I would run cwshredder too, seems to work on a vareity of nasties not just CoolWebSearch. |

| 324351 | 2005-02-17 10:10:00 | this one is agressive, try doing all this again but in safe mode, I think this one may have a running process that monitors and replicates any missing files and by starting using safe mode, may stop this process from starting up. | beama (111) | ||
