324822 2005-02-14 06:04:00 :help: AVG antivirus is reporting that I have a Trojan Horse in a file called inst.EXE and says it's in a folder called c:\recycler\S-1-5-21-14170001333-1960408961-682003330-1115\Dc54.dat:\
I can't see the folder on C:\ and I can't delete the files. There are two other virus files listed as being in the same folder: 12472.exe and Dc465.dat

AVG hasn't been able to deal with these files, so I'd appreciate help in getting rid of them.

324823 2005-02-14 06:16:00 Have you remembered to "Show hidden files"? zqwerty (97)
324824 2005-02-14 06:31:00 Yes - "Show Hidden Files" is on. I ran CMD and then typed "DIR c:\recycler" and got a directory folder showing, but there were no files in it. john (7309)
324825 2005-02-14 06:45:00 Go to start/run and type regedit. Search for that in registry. See where it is. I would say its in the registry somewhere. Speedy Gonzales (78)
324826 2005-02-14 06:45:00 recycler is your recycle bin.

Empty it and the problem should disappear.

324827 2005-02-14 06:49:00 Symantec have info on a trojan that sounds similar here (securityresponse.symantec.com) with instructions on removal. You may have to remove some entries from the registry as well.

If the trojan reported is not the same one as Symantec's do a search for the name of it on that site to see if they have it listed.
