325285 2005-02-15 07:32:00 hi folkz :-)

upgraded from my previous version of mozilla and ive now noticed a major slowdown in the web pages loading.. like theres no action for a few seconds before it actually kicks in and then page loads. this is much slower than the 1.0 pr version. does it have anything to do with the feedback thing? i cancelled the installation of it as well.. nothings changed, all ive done is install mozilla 1.0 over the top of mozilla 1.0 pr.

any ideas? i think ill go back to 1.0 pr

cheers

325286 2005-02-15 07:39:00 Try a clean install of 1.0 Final first. Make sure you backup your bookmarks. Don't reuse any extensions/themes you have, but rather re-download them. See if this makes a difference. :) Jen (38)
325287 2005-02-15 08:30:00 Hi Jen

Seems to have worked, completely uninstalled Mozilla and then reinstalled Mozilla 1.0 and everything seems to be fine.

Thanks For The Help

325288 2005-02-17 06:53:00 just when i thought it was going fine firefox seems to be doing the same thing again..

i previously had firefox 1.0 pr which was goin fine absolutely no problems, i then updated to firefox 1.0 and then noticed that it was doing something strange in that it would load most of a page quickly and then takes minutes upon minutes to load maybe the last 10% of a page.. whether it is a nz webpage or international. did a clean reinstall of firefox 1.0 and noticed it eventually started to do the same thing... sooooooo, uninstalled and went back to firefox 1.0 pr and its still doing the same thing

someone help!

run winxp pro sp1 , amd xp2500 running @ xp3200, 512 megs ddr ram (dual channel mode),

not sure if this helps but did a bandwidth test (im on 1Mbit Wired Country) and came back as

Your line speed is approximately 1065.8 Kbps or 130.6 K bytes/sec

pinged www.ihug.co.nz with the following results

Minimum = 18ms, Maximum = 30ms, Average = 23ms

325289 2005-02-17 09:14:00 TermX, have you done a adware/spyware check?

if you haven't install Ad-aware Personal SE and make sure it is updated, and run a full scan ... you may have something else sharing your internet connection, or slowing it down????

325290 2005-02-17 10:01:00 im very certain its associated with firefox itself, ive run ad aware 6 fully updated
and nothing. i had task manager running and watched it as i loaded a webpage. as before 90% of the webpage would load instantly, during this time cpu was around 5 % (musicmatch also running, and also downloading a program from the pcworld site @ 50 kBs-ish) and then hang for a minute then all of a sudden cpu usage spikes to over 50% and then drops to 2% at which point the last 10% of the webpage loads.

repeated fror both local and intl webpages, and also with apps running in the background and then without. bandwidth isnt a problem as i can run a p2p program and download at full speed @ around 110 kBs ..

so whats happened to my firefox! :(

the other horrible thing (if you can call it that, is IE works fine, but im a firefox fan all the way)
