325699 2005-02-16 20:33:00 I cant make a start up disk. It says to put win98se in drive, but i dont have the hard disk. Is there another way? I had a major crash a few months ago and my pc went to the shop. The win 98 hard disk i had wont work now, it was a quick restore for compaq, and my hard drive isn't partitioned anymore, so now i have nothing if i have anymore pc problems. jonlinsmith (7340)
325700 2005-02-16 20:54:00 You should be able to get the correct info and disk from here.

325701 2005-02-17 07:52:00 Or you can make a really simple startup disk without all the tools on the full Win98 startup disk by issuing the DOS command:

sys a:

You could then copy some basic tools onto the disk (such as format.com).

325702 2005-02-17 08:06:00 I don't quite follow you, I presume the shop fitted a new hard drive and restored Win98. But yet another way in Win 98 is to go to Start-Settings-Control Panel-Add/Remove Programs-StartUp Disk. Put a floppy disk in the drive and press Create button. Terry Porritt (14)
