325535 2005-02-16 03:29:00 have XP Home and Fresh Downloads. Using an unmentionable CD I tried to download a program off the CD and FD told me I could not. So I uninstalled FD and restarted the comp. Tried again and got 'Fresh Downdloads could not take over the download! Looked and found stuff still in the FD file, deleted it all and ran Reg Cleaner and got the same message. How can it still interfere with my computer? I will now be off to find a friendly download manager.

325537 2005-02-16 03:38:00 I can answer the looking for a download manager bit.

I reccomend Getbot (www.getbot.com) free, fast, only 300kb & best of all, no spyware. It can also download whole websites, but I havn't tried it

325539 2005-02-16 05:32:00 I have XP Home and Fresh Downloads. Using an unmentionable CD I tried to download one of it's programs and FD's told me I could not. So I uninstalled FD and restarted the comp. Tried again and got 'Fresh Downdloads could not take over the download! Looked and found stuff still in the FD file, deleted it all and ran Reg Cleaner. I have run 'find files and folders' and deleted anything of the Fresh family. I have been through with regedit and found nothing and still got the same message. I have rebooted the computer again and I still I cannot download off the net I had Getright tucked away so I installed it, cannot make it work. How can it still interfere with my computer like this?

325540 2005-02-16 05:39:00 Hi SMs

You don't need to repost a question twice, but try to keep all related posts in the same thread - as you can see from my edit comment above, I have moved your new duplicate post into this thread. This makes it easier for people to help you as they can see what advice has already been giving and didn't work. :)

325541 2005-02-16 05:40:00 What browser?

FD and the like use a browser plugin/extension to capture downloads, I think that must still be hanging around. If IE have a look in IE > Properties > Files Downloaded Objects (by memory), there could be an ActiveX controll there that you need to get rid of plus any registry association, if it has any.
