325359 2005-02-15 18:59:00 Hi
wel its time to move on for me so iam thinking between 2 services which are offering unlimited data usage and costs the same specs as follow:-
ORCON RESIDENTIAL 256k BITSTREAM
Download 256k
Speed Upload 128k
Data Cap Beyond no slow down
Data Cap unlimited
New connection = 99.95 excluding modem.

Ihug bliink 256k
download 256k
upload 128k
data cap beyond -
data cap unlimited
New connection - if you sign up before 31 March 2005 for a minimum of 12 months, we'll waive the connection fee and give you a FREE ADSL modem too (normally $198.95)*.

right now IHug is looking good bcoz theyre offering free connection and free modem but they have the contract.
Now there must be many users who use these services living around auckland, please let me know to which one to go for.
I live on dominion rd just before youth street.

325360 2005-02-15 19:33:00 Firstly I know nothing about Orcon.
I have Bliink and am more than satisfied with it.
You'll have to decide for yourself if the free connection and modem are worth being tied to them for a year. I am and I see nothing wrong with that.

325361 2005-02-15 19:52:00 Im with JJJJJ,

bliink has been great for me, surprisingly.

Sure I miss the 2mbps connection, but they have plans now for that AFAIK, so if flat-rate 256kbps doesnt sound good enough then you still have 2mbps options.

A year with Ihug? Ive been with them for about 8 now!

Chill.

I use ORCON and have done for a few years now. Their service is excellent, and I have never had a problem with them. However, I guess as always its personal preference. What ISP you currently with?

325363 2005-02-16 03:11:00 [Hi have been with Ihug for many years and have no complaints at all about them.
Went on to Bliink when it first came out, and after Dialup, it's like comparing a Ferrari with a Mini.
Go for it, good luck Ron..

325364 2005-02-16 03:27:00 Bliink is a very good service, once i got the hiccups ironed out.

Bliink offers a free static ip address as well as orcon.

Bliink do a have 2mb option (but rumour has it that there are going to release a higher capped rate)

325365 2005-02-16 08:07:00 Just be very patient about receiving your modem from bliink. I have been waiting for a week now. They won't send the modem until jetstream is connected. Then, in my case, I waited for it to arrive on courier. I finally rang after about 4 -5 days to be advised they were waiting on a password from me so they could configure the modem - it would have been helpful if they had emailed or rang and asked me! In the mean time they have disconnected my ultra satellite service leaving me in the dial up age at high speed rates.
Several more days have gone past but no modem. I wish I could run a successful business with this sort of customer service!
Best to grab a modem on TradeMe and forget the free one.
