325862 2005-02-17 06:56:00 I am setting word up for speech recognition, and would be interested in members views on the best/prefered microphones,
eg; usb or plug and play type.

325863 2005-02-17 07:01:00 I've got no technical opinion re-microphones except you'll have better results with a good quality one
But speech recognition to an acceptable level is about 2yrs & 1GHz away
I'll be real interested to hear how you get on
Get back to us in a couple of days after you've trained it & tell us the results
Good Luck

325864 2005-02-17 09:13:00 Capt_Hook. I asked a similar question some weeks ago.Cannot remember the Titlenow. Try a PF1 search for 'Poppa John' or 'Speech Recognition' or 'Throat Mic'. There are two types of mic, I believe, 'grandfather' explained it for me, (at least I think it was he). On that particular thread were comments from people who had tried it.
Sorry if I am 'butting in' but this IS a related question. Why does it seem so hard to make speech into text. All I am doing is 'speaking' the word I am 'reading' on the screen. The computer matches the sound I make with the word I read. Is it not as simple as that?? PJ
