325637 2005-02-16 15:06:00 everytime i log onto internet, it stays connected for about 5 min, then disconnects. I can reconnect, but it disconnects about every 30 seconds. I have to shut down and restart my pc, then when i connect it stays connected. This started when i installed the new versions of spybot & AVG antivirus. They seem to run fine. I have deleted cookies + temp files, run scan disk,...Any thoughts?

325638 2005-02-16 16:52:00 I and and two friends of mine have had this problem. Ring your ISP technical help desk and give them the error message that appears (if there is one). The problem could be line noise, which requires you to alter modem settings. It can also help if you remove / unplug any other items that connect to the home phone system, such as a fax, phone extensions. BTW, if you have to pay for ISP technical help, then bad luck - I have found that certain ISPs like Slingshot have what appears to be good cheap deals but the help desk is a 0900 number. 325639 2005-02-16 18:08:00 try putting ,, (yes two commas) after your isp dailup number this allows more time for the two modems to decide a connection speed (those bips and beeps on connecting are the two modems deciding a good connection speed). ringing your isp for those modem setting is also another good idea beama (111)
