325341 2005-02-15 18:32:00 I am looking for a good Floppy Based Linux that runs off the disk and not a RamDisk so i can configure it and add more files i have tried many but cant find one that doesnt use a ramdisk Dannz (1668)

Not going to happen unless its just a firewall that you're after.

DSL is only a 50MB Download?

With Knoppix and (I believe...) most of its derivatives you can add an option at boot that will save your /home (Personal files/settings) to the likes of a thumbdrive, or inside a loopback file on another HDD.

Try Damn Small Linux if you're after something small & a Bootable LiveCD.

I wonder though, if you had a distro set up on a thumb drive with some of the space partitioned off for memory it might be possible. Is that possible, it would still need to use system memory, right?
