1365405 2014-01-17 22:53:00 From Yahoo:

"You’ve probably heard about the forthcoming automotive black boxes .

These 'automotive data recorders' are able to let government and insurance personnel determine the conditions leading up to an accident .

Whether you like this idea or not, pretty soon, it’s going to be mandatory in all cars .

As of September 1, 2014, 100 percent of new cars and trucks will be required to be equipped with this feature . "

1365406 2014-01-17 23:11:00 I had a friend joke about recording conversations, and some do.

"The Corvette's system goes further than traditional black boxes.

A camera mounted on the windshield records the driver's point of view and a microphone in the cabin records any noises made in the car.

Chevrolet said the consumer owned the data, which is collected in a digital card housed in the glove compartment.

But privacy lawyers say the information can still be used against a driver, as well as GM and its suppliers, in litigation or by an insurance company investigating a driver's habits.

'The privacy and liability issues associated with the PDR are as real as with any archived data that can be used by or against individuals,' said William Kohler, a lawyer at Clark Hill in Detroit."

1365409 2014-01-18 03:15:00 Excellent .

And to back it up make it mandatory that the footage gets played in court, including any recovered from police cars and stipulate some heavy hitting minimum punishments, like execution .

I'd also like to see remote controlled immobilisers, in the event the piggies want to they can stop every car within 500m with the touch of a button .

And breathalysers built into every car .

Owners who refuse to retrofit their piles of crap will be shot, their cars crushed and their families billed for the services provided .

Now, THAT sounds like a place I'd like to live in .

russia i believe is one. also some of the European countries. been a while since i've been on the security forums.
but russia is probably the single biggest market for the cameras.

i doubt NZ will ever go that way. insurance co's and politicians don't give a crap.
"its only an accident"
as per recent ad, "your going to fast its your fault".
its perfectly socially acceptable to bash people with cars in this country.
