1364873 2014-01-11 04:13:00 Hi I bought one of these sound bars & subwoofers yesterday: www.dicksmith.co.nz

for my Veon TV cos the sound is so tinny

Hows best to connect it to the tv?
the ports on the soundbar are AUX, Coax, Audio-In & Optical

ports on my TV are

earphone, hdmi, SPDIF,RF, AV IN (taken by freeview receiver),pb/cb component, PC audio & vga

At the moment I have it from audio in to earphone by aux cable :? I assume this isn't the right way lol
Thanks in advance

1364874 2014-01-11 04:27:00 I too have a Veon TV and I agree, the sound is not very good so I have the sound playing through my CD player. There is only one sound output and that is the headphone, so you need to connect it up to there. It goes into the AUX connection. The good thing is that it cuts out the speaker which is a bonus. Once you have it connected up you will agree that it is well worthwhile. Roscoe (6288)
1364875 2014-01-11 04:29:00 I see the back of my freeview box has a Coax plug for digital audio. would you think that would work?
Where sells those plugs?

p.s. thanks Roscoe. is the sound any worse out of the headphone jack than coax or any of the others?

1364876 2014-01-11 04:35:00 I go optical out from my tv to the soundbar, that way any device connected to TV has the use of soundbar. Plus you can choose to use it or not. Previously I had my components going to the soundbar via hdmi, then to the tv. Not ideal as required soundbar to be on all the time and you have to change inputs.
Coax, shame it's not optical/toslink

1364877 2014-01-11 04:40:00 Thx plod, is there much disadvantage to Coax? Don't think I can do optical out

Coax would be better than using headphone jack right?

1364881 2014-01-11 07:35:00 It will tell you in the quick set up guide.
I have a Philips Soundbar too, and I have coax going to the coax in on the bar, from coax out on the TV. I also have Optical going from the s/bar to ps3. The audio in on the top of the bar is where I put the audio cable from the turn table record player.
