1364752 2014-01-09 06:44:00 Why on earth should N Z be subjected to all the c#@+ that these so called tourists or immigrants put to us at the border! If they cannot read the declarations on the card , they should be just redirected to the nearest flight back to what ever country they came from! Surely there must be an app for that! The amount of food and other prohibited stuff these people try to bring in!!! Makes one wonder what sort of advice they get before they actually get on the plane in their own country.

As for the so called "toys" that some Chinese try to bring in? They just look like stuffed blobs of unrecognisable things with weird faces. (which is most likely a dead give away).

If anyone actually disagrees with this post, I would like to know why.......

That's always made me wonder as well, the departing Airport officals MUST know they will get stopped at the other end. Or is more of a case that's their problem, not ours.

Of course theres always the " me no undie standie the English " excuse ;)

1364756 2014-01-09 08:49:00 I had my own problem with the Bio-Security ********s a few years ago... came back from Melbourne with a whole salami - same brand as we have in our supermarket shelves. The tit who interviewed me gave me s***, but eventually, literally, pointed me to the exit sign, with the salami.

I called the department next time just before I went to Aus, and they told me... "absolutely fine to bring it into the country".

I hope they fired the *ucker for giving me the 3rd degree the first time.

1364757 2014-01-09 09:42:00 The programme offers entertainment when you see what happens when incoming passengers are caught bringing goods into the country that can be harmful to our biosecurity. They obviously edit out any footage where incoming passengers are not pulled aside to be searched because this is not entertainment. The majority of passengers obey the regulations.

It is good to see how the Customs Officers are trained to spot a suspicious passenger usually by the passengers body language or computer records. The sniffer dogs do a good job.

I doubt that all passengers who bring prohibited goods with them are detected at the border. I think that the Customs Officers do a good job but they need to keep one step ahead of smugglers.

1364758 2014-01-09 19:01:00 Why bring half the stuff anyway? We have it here....Like the one that bought milk.

What I find pointless though, is the ones opening containers and checking for insects.
Ooops...too late - they flew off outside.....

I know of containers being opened at the company premises and having insects that have escaped......unless you fumigate them all before they are even opened, no wonder we now have foreign bugs here.

For blobs who sit and watch it every nite it most likely is. Personally I would rather watch home shopping than this cheap crap..

I always have some paint handy, when it comes on I nip out, paint a piece of wood and watch it dry.

Watching paint dry can be interesting but time consuming.
