| 1379364 | 2014-07-20 00:20:00 | I use defender that came with windows 8, and occasionally when I think about it do a Mbam scan. I honestly can't remember the last time I had a virus or malware on my system, Mbam never finds anything but tracking cookies. I haven't had to do a reinstall or system restore for anything like that for a few years now (on my own PC's that is). I don't doubt NOD32 is better if set up correctly as Wainui suggests, but the free ones do a perfectly good job if you can apply some common sense to your PC usage. Of course I am not worried by the prospect of losing everything and starting over, for me that's just a lost afternoon sometime and not really a big deal. Also I tend to have a 2nd PC I can use if I manage to kill my main one. Some people have more to lose than others. |

WARNING: Both IE & Nod DOES block it as suspect - so if MS doesn't stop it / Warn- I take no responsibility to what may or may not happen : www.2gb-hosting.com 5851 Firefox Doesn't stop it or warn the user, nether did Iron ( Chrome variant). |

| 1379367 | 2014-07-20 04:31:00 | Ok I used the online scanner from Eset an did a full scan, found 18 things so I thought I was going to have to concede. However what it found and deleted were legit programs, several different coin miners I've experimented with and their installers. I'd be annoyed if I actually still used them but as it is it just prompt me to uninstall them properly as I no longer bother coin mining. To be fair to Eset I've previously had to tell Mbam and Defender to ignore those files, seems there is malware out there that uses the litecoin miners to mine coins and the scanners can't tell the legit mining software from the malware that also contains it. Also did a Mbam scan and found nothing of note, apparently it's been 55 days since I last ran it. |
