1379194 2014-07-14 00:28:00 The time has come to do a format and fresh install of everything.

However i am unsure of how to do a format of my hard drive.

The drive is not partitioned and when i boot up from the windows disc provided with the machine, the usb mouse and keyboard no longer work.

Can anyone help?

1379195 2014-07-14 00:31:00 Put the Win7 dvd in, go into the BIOS change it to cd. Save settings / reboot. Then press a key when it says to press a key on the screen. After a few secs, you should see the setup screen.

Then format / create partitions if you want. Then install windows. I take it the cd/dvd you've got is the recovery DVD?

1379199 2014-07-14 01:07:00 Is the USB port, youre plugging it into USB 2 or 3?? If its USB 2, make sure USB legacy support is enabled in the BIOS.

If it's USB 3, I dont think you can plug a USB keyboard or mouse into a USB 3 port, if you're installing windows. You have to install the drivers first (so windows would have to be installed first for USB 3 ports to work).

1379200 2014-07-14 01:20:00 And if you're using a USB hub plug it into the port. Some USB devices wont work when plugged into a hub Speedy Gonzales (78)
1379201 2014-07-14 11:12:00 Thanks speedy. Had a look and both keyboard and mouse were plugged into USB3 ports. Changed them to usb2 and worked first time :) stevevick (17271)
