| 326258 | 2005-02-18 21:12:00 | hi, I need to know the maximum memory allowed in a motherboard, without opening the case. I searched for the model in everest and it shows me a lot of posibles motherboards. I searched too how many dimm slots I have, I searched the specifications of all the motherboards posibles and all said that I have 3, but SiSoft Sandra and in CPU-Z saids that I have 4. :stare: Here the copy of the motherboard information by everest Field Value Motherboard Properties Motherboard ID 04/07/2000-693-596A-DD-2A6LGD4FC-00 Motherboard Name DFI CA61/CB50-V3/CB60-V3/PA61/PB50-V3/PB61-V3 Front Side Bus Properties Bus Type Intel GTL+ Bus Width 64-bit Real Clock 133 MHz Effective Clock 133 MHz Bandwidth 1067 MB/s Memory Bus Properties Bus Type SDR SDRAM Bus Width 64-bit Real Clock 133 MHz Effective Clock 133 MHz Bandwidth 1067 MB/s Chipset Bus Properties Bus Type PCI Bus Width 32-bit Real Clock 33 MHz Effective Clock 33 MHz Bandwidth 133 MB/s Motherboard Manufacturer Company Name DFI Corporation Product Information sj.dfi.com.tw BIOS Download sj.dfi.com.tw |

From what I have read it is highly unlikely that you will void any sort of warranty on the computer. Another option would be to get a whole bunch of SD RAM and keep populating the slots until you reach ,max.... however the only snag with this is that you will need a different sizes (64, 128, 256, 512MB chips) so that you can ascertain what the max amount per slot is. My advice... open the case and get a definitive model number... compared to the other options it is the most hassle-free option. cheers chiefnz |
