2005-02-19 23:34:00 | I called them up, and they talked to me properly, when I mentioned that they had promised to get me a beckpalate plate and call me by Tuesday, the lady told me to hold on, I held on, and on, and on. After about 20mins I hung up. I tried to call the back, and when they picked up, I said I had just called, and they hung up on me. Then I called for a third time, this time they spoke chinese or something, and hung up. Their phone has been engaged since. I think now is the time to use CGA... They've treated you shabbily, take BT's advice. Who are they?

2005-02-20 00:16:00 | This "backplate", are we talking about the I/O shield that fits inbetween the case and the motherboard? If one was missing you would have to get another one sent to you from Asus in Taiwan. If they took one out of the next A8N-SLI-Deluxe package and gave it to you, then that motherboard wouldn't be sellable either. You can't just use any I/O shield because each motherboard is different so they'll never fit. The I/O shield is also good for maintaining electrical contact with the motherboard's jacks, to prevent excessive EMI leakage. The A8N-SLI-Deluxe is pretty rare in NZ at the moment because they are in high demand. They aren't going to just have stock lying round on shelves. There was only like ~10 shipped in the first lot that arrived. So likely if you get a refund you could be waiting a while to get another board from somewhere else.

2005-02-20 00:19:00 | I just came back from their shop, they said that the guy who sold me the mobo, was "Paul is thick!" and that it was his day off today. And he said that he would get the guy to call me tommorow. Now how can you call a guy "thick" if you dont know what a I/O Shield or Backplate is, but thats not the point. This again was racial discrimination. Paul was a white guy, while Dave( the guy I talked to, was asian). I'll have to wait for them to call me tommorow, and see what they say.

2005-02-20 00:40:00 | This one? Asus A8N-SLI Deluxe Socket 939, NVIDIA nForce®4 SLI Chipset, 2000 MT/s, 1600MT/s FSB, 4 x 184-pin DIMM Sockets support max. 4GB DDR400, Dual Channel Memory Architecture, 2 x PCI Express x16 slot, 3 x PCI, Under SLI mode : support two SLI-ready graphics cards, 2 x UltraDMA 133/100/66/33, 4 x Serial ATA with RAID0, 1, 0+1, 5, 8 Channel Audio Stock status:in I can't see any problem being able to source one, that pricelist came through end of last week. If the retailer can't source a backpanel through the supplier then it is back ordered through Aussie, usually takes about a week. But, as i suggested above, The easist soulution would be for the retailer to just order another entire unit in and when it arrives, swap if for yours, and they can return the original item as missing components. Much easier then chasing a backplate all the way through Aussie and back to China.

2005-02-20 04:38:00 | In ancient Sparta, wives told their departing husbands as they went off to war "Come back with your shield or on it" I suggest you do the same. Stop pussyfootiing around and get evil on them. :D An unshaved appearance combined with a maniacal look, rapid blinking and a small piece of soap in the corner of the mouth gives a nice touch in dealing with wallies like this. Also use some subtle persuasion along the lines of " I'm in a hurry, the voices told me it was time clean my guns " ;)
