2005-02-19 01:13:00 | That page won't load in Opera chiefnz, well takes too long. All this time I've had a misunderstanding about connecteion speed? Not unlikely. So that hover-over-the-monitor is just one part of it? But it does say "connected at "whatever"."

2005-02-19 01:28:00 | Hmmm quite strange.. the link works fine in Firefox and IE6. Go to this (jetstreamgames.co.nz) page and then click on the 500k test Hopefully that will work in Opera. cheers chiefnz

2005-02-19 01:43:00 | Yes that worked thanks chiefnz and I learn that my speed is 44.9 Kbps not the 49.3 Kbps that the hover-over-the-monitors does. Very helpful, cleared up an issue for me thanks to all and Metla for pointing it out.

2005-02-19 01:57:00 | weeeeelllll.....Due to the discusion/thread being about adsl speed I refered soley to what is reported in those conditions, Your line speed from comp to the router, which recieves the adsl stream and directs it into your comp. mark c you situation is different in that your on dialup,so it does reflect your initial connection speed to your ISP. Its worth keeping in mind that many 56k modems have different behaviour, some will report a low initial connection speed but then hum along at a good rate, some report a fast initial connection and then slow down more then a govenment commitee. Some are just all over the place like a Judge caught in a compromising position.

2005-02-19 02:06:00 | HaHa. Thanks Metla. Interesting then that the hover says about 4Mbps faster than the result at Jetstream but yes that could due to the behaviour of the Judge. Much apprecite all the info. m

2005-02-19 02:30:00 | Thanks for the test site info :) Is 1977.7 Kbps or 242.4 K bytes/sec a good or bad time????

2005-02-19 03:53:00 | I checked my speed on jetstreamgames and the red bar went to 'extreme'. Ain't that good? Guess I am in the middle of the smoke and there's bound to be an exchange on my front doorstep (actually the nearest I've seen is 2km away) As someone around here says... Muhahahaa

2005-02-19 04:59:00 | You can test your speed here (www.jetstreamgames.co.nz) After the page loads press CTRL + Refresh to get a more accurate reading. cheers chiefnz That is the speed test I was using and getting those speed readings off. I've done several others with similar results.

2005-02-19 22:51:00 | Last night and today I am getting the "Extreme" reading :) Is this 'meter' giving me an accurate reading even though my ISP is Ihug?

2005-02-20 02:11:00 | Two days ago I was facing extremly slow connection speeds and it was timing out loading webpages and images etc... I am on 2MBIt, I'm thinking Telecom can't handle so many users being on this highspeed internet, upgrade the cabling I say!! | Buggie (7149) | |
