325925 2005-02-17 10:42:00 After Installing SP2 on a notebook when it rebooted it starts loading then it stops with the error message
Lsass.exe - System error

Object name not found

What has happened and how can I fix it.

Thanks

Have you tried a quick Google?

325927 2005-02-17 11:43:00 The computer already had just had AVG 7 installed.

That is not much use though as you cannot start windows as when you close the error message it resets the computer and starts the whole process again

Thanks
Godfrey

325928 2005-02-17 17:47:00 from another forum had a strange crash of my Windows XP Home system. For some reason, when I booted
up I got the error message

lsass.exe system error. Object name not found.

The machine would then reboot, and continue doing so until I turned it off.

I could find no solution for this (so much for recovery console), so I did an in-place
reinstall of Windows XP home, dowloaded all the updates, and got going again.

325929 2005-02-17 17:59:00 ok then seeing we suspect a virus have you tried starting in safe mode,
(I'm not sure if this works with avg 7, it did for avg 6) if so choose command line only, navigate to the avg folder on your hard drive (hope you know your dos commands) once in the avg program folder type AVG the press enter, this a command line scanner for avg as I stated earlier Im not sure if its included in avg 7, but worth a try.

BTW windows version of avg will not run in safe mode

The other option for command line scanners is f-prot (do a google for the download site) free for the DOS/command line version but you need to be able to unzip it to use it. If you do try fprot, the exercutable name once unpacked is f-prot

325930 2005-02-17 18:57:00 When installing AVG7 you will have been prompted to make repair disks, run those.
Bet you didnt make any eh?
Wonder if it's the first thing on the agenda when windows is up & running again
Install AVG on someone elses machine, make the repair disks & run them

325931 2005-02-17 19:16:00 windows version of avg7 runs fine in safe mode drcspy (146)
325932 2005-02-25 08:42:00 Your computer might be hit by Sasser worm which targets lsass.exe Try checking out McAfee's Stinger to solve your problem Renmoo (66)
