326897 2005-02-20 22:40:00 OK the magazine waxes lyrical about how good these programs are but I am sure I have never seen any advice about what is the recommended ant-virus software to use with them - any recommedations? brum (7388)
326898 2005-02-20 23:29:00 Welcome to PF1.

I do not actually see any relevance to the browser choice and AntiVirus product used.

The Virus danger is more to the underlying Windows operating system which supports the browser, so if you were running Linux and not Windows, it would then have a bearing.

326899 2005-02-20 23:42:00 My OS in Windows 2000 Pro - so to re-phrase my original query, do I need any sort of anti(virus or spyware or adaware) software if I change to Mozilla? brum (7388)
326900 2005-02-20 23:56:00 No your existing Anti-virus program should be fine (assuming you have one already installed) Overdrive_5000 (4950)
326901 2005-02-21 00:01:00 You will need to run an antivirus software using internet explorer or mozilla.
The good thing about using mozilla (firefox is the version i use) is that in the whole time i've been using it, about 6 months, i have had no spyware/ adaware what so ever. The only time i seem to need to run Adaware and Spybot-search and Destroy anymore is if i've had to use Internet Explorer for some reason.
Hope this helps, Lazydog.

I assume you mean you want an antivirus program that will work with firefox or thunderbird like ie6 does.

In IE6 and Outlook, there is a shortcut to nortons antivirus and AVG if you have them. This is basicaly just for convenience.

I have thunderbird 1.0 and nortons, and every time I send an email, nortons pops into action to scan outcoming and incoming emails. They seem to work together fine.

You are probably referering to and "ease of use" function provided by IE.
