326867 2005-02-20 18:57:00 Microsoft Management Console is trying to access the internet as server when I start Dk up.I have to say yes for disckeeper to start. Then again when I want to defrag or just check a hard drive, ZA asks if I want to allow DFRGNTFS.EXE to access the internet, and again I have to allow it to get the program to work.I had this with my UPS program, and have had to allow it through ZoneAlarm to access a server, otherwise it wont work.I'm new to XP Pro,is this normal? Thanks tweake.I think it's a ZA thing.Tried installing it on a friends 98 yesterday, and it wouldn't let his OE check for emails(he's on an ADSL modem)So ended up installing Sygate on his.Have got the latest ZA.Using Nod 32 av.
I'll just make sure I'm offline when I run Disckeeper!

326870 2005-02-21 22:02:00 sorry but "latest ZA" dosn't mean much. what ver?

also i doubt ZA would be stopping his email from working. if your useing an antivirus prog that scans the emails as they download, you need to allow that antivirus program to have net access and it pays to disable ZA's email filter.

326871 2005-02-21 23:43:00 ZoneAlarm version:5.5.062.011

What happened with my friends Outlook Express, when he fires up OE it checks straight away for emails. With ZA installed it kept bringing up the dial in screen.I set up ZA re dialup/ADSL properties, but made no difference.Internet Ex and Firefox were ok,they found the home page straight away. But with Sygate we had no trouble,so that will do.Better than no firewall,as he's had none for a while! He's using AVG with no problems.
